Today is the day

So this morning I have smoked my last cigarette. I’m on night shift so about to go to sleep.

Everything worked out really well in terms of timing. I finished Allen Carr program and finished my packet of cigarettes around the same time. By this point on CHAMPIX, I felt pretty sick as I was smoking.

I’m contemplating telling my GP I want to stop CHAMPIX at the initiation stage as I have 2 weeks left of it. I figure I don’t need the CHAMPIX for more than to quit.

I’ll see how I go over the next 2 weeks then decide if I should get continuation pack.

Hi imali. Keep an open mind when it comes to continuing the Champix , while changing your attitude towards your smoking . Who needs to slowly poison ourselves once we have the keys to unlock our prison of relentless addiction. If you could get off off your hypertension medication, would you not be elated. Quitting smoking should bring the same joy. You have read Allan Carr's book and should have the understanding to keep a hard stance against smoking.

One day at a time , and keep the positive attitude!

Hi again Hmali, In your last post you mentioned giving Champix away, then decided to keep them on. I also advised you to make a quit day for stopping the habit of putting that cigarette into your mouth and it seems as if you have done that. Champix worked extremely well for me, but I had to learn a whole lot more about the habit and the hold that Nicotine had over me.

Champix is not for everyone but the upside is that it contains no Nicotine. Your doctor will advise you mostly if you are sick in relation to the medication, you can work out your own timing to stop the Champix based on your own outcomes if you want to. I suggest giving it more time before you stop the Champix, and work on the habitual side. But by all means, have a chat with your doctor before then.

Hi Hmali. Awesome you had your last cigarette today. I have done the same. I think if the Champix is helping, it is good and I am glad you are checking with your doctor first before you stop taking it. I can't take Champix due to reactions with other medications I take and need. I am using some of that Nicarette gum and trying to focus on my mental reasons for smoking. I know how dangerously addictive nicotine is and I also know the mind addiction is even more powerful than the physical addiction. All the best!
