Day 2

Posted in Getting started
schedule 12 Oct 2020

Hi everyone, this is my umpteenth attempt at quitting. In my 47 years, I’ve been smoking for almost 35 years of those, and a heavy smoker for the last 20 years. Today I’m on Day 2, Cold Turkey. I’ve only had 2 big cravings today, which was a surprise in itself, as I stated I’m a heavy smoker. 1 I was able to distracted myself working in my backyard, but to 2nd craving I seriously considered going up the shops to buy a packet. This is when I realised I would need help from others that have done this themselves. And considering I’ve never made it past Day 5, I’m going to need help especially how and what others are doing to stay on track.

Really want to be over this smoking caper, I don’t enjoy it, haven’t for quite a while now, but that’s what addiction does, doesn’t it.

By the way, does anyone else get the occasional waft of smoke even though everything has been thoroughly cleaned after the last cigarette?

Hi Buddhie and welcome to the community and I hope yu will make your quit a success with us. Support from others who have quit can be very helpful. Not only moral support and total understanding, but we hope we can also share our experiences and tips that eased the way. I seriously believe in the mindset, the positive thinking that will keep you stacking up those days to freedom . You need to use what you have learned from past quits and utilize them to make this your last quit. Believe in you. We do. We all start out doubting ourselves which is so undermining . If we can quit after 40 plus years, so can you. You may also even find it easy once you understand that smoking does nothing for you, and there are so many benefits awaiting you.

So get ready to be a non-smoker! It begins with N.O.P.E. .....Not One Puff Ever .....

Welcome onboard Buddhie73. Congratulations for your decision and best of luck for your journey.

I think it doesn't matter how many years you smoked before you quit. I was also a heavy smoker before quitting. I feel easy this time as compare to earlier attempt (2 years before).

Just keep in mind that you don't need to smoke. And if your mind says so, it is just an illusion. Nothing else.

I would suggest you a book "EASSYWAY TO STOP SMOKING" by Alen Carr. Personally I found it very useful. You will get that easily on Kindle or links posted by "Happiness' in his/her stories on this website only.

Once again, good luck!
