Champix

Hi Everyone. I am day 9 into taking Champix. Quut day is the 12th. Did anyone suffer from facial sweats, nausea and vomiting after having a smoke whilst taking higher dose tablet?

I don't know much about Champix, but it sounds like it is doing what it is supposed to do....make smoking less enjoyable. Even though Champix will help you get over the nicotine addiction, there is still the acceptance of the new status. Many miss their so called "friend" and the time it filled. When you learn the truth about smoking, how it did nothing for you, and the host of benefits that you will enjoy once "free" of its leg irons, you can achieve the mindset to couple with the champix. In this way , you will desire freedom more than the desire for a cigarette.
Seems to me if you chose to quit rather than smoke those sticks, you can avoid the discomforts that you are experiencing. I upped my quit date when I found cutting down to be no harder than to just stop. With the proper mindset, I found quitting to be easier than I could have imagined.

Hi Annie lav I too don't know anything about Champix but if you read the stories and posts you are bound to find someone that does. All the best and stay close to this fantastic community 🧚👍

Welcome Annie, I was on Champix and cannot stress how it helped me more than any other methods. Actually, you are now Nicotine Free, so although the information on the guides are for you to follow, one size does not fit all, I had trouble with nightmares so I actually dropped the evening dose, but it still worked for me.
You need to keep in touch with your doctor whilst you are on this medication, it doesn't suit everyone. Others who have come on this site have made sure their evening dose is taken with food. I might suggest that you need to take both doses with food, call in to your doctor with an update for him/her, the vomiting seems quite extreme.

Thanks Softly40. I gave up smoking 12 years ago and stupidly took it up 12 months ago. I used Champix last time and found it excellent with no side effects, so was surprised this time round. Vomiting has settled down so fingers crossed

I got a prescription for champix but am too afraid to start taking it because of all the side effects. Help please...

Alwayshope Champix would a treat for me 12 yrs ago. I only took them for 4 weeks. I have put down my vomiting to a tummy upset as it hasn't happened again. The sweating of my face I have put down to menopause lol. I have cut my smoking by just over two thirds and I certainly don't crave a smoke 1st thing in the morning and they don't taste as good as what we think they do🙂

I trust you got my message on your first post . Our ideals, preferences and goals change over time. Our bodies do too. Seems like you are seeing smokes as they are...awful tasting....and you are beginning to control your thoughts as to their importance in your life. You are not craving or missing them, so drink extra water, take the pills earlier with lots of food and find what works for you to alleviate ay side effects you may be experiencing. It will be well worth it in the end to defeat this nicotine addiction and daily habit. Habits are broken in as little as 21 days, so I've read. Nicotine is out of your system for the most part that matters, in as little as 72 hours. It does not wake us to smoke and has a residual of only 7% when we wake. You HAVE THE POWER . Take back control. Anyone can quit smoking!

AnnieLav please keep us posted. I need encouragement to get started on the Champix. I stopped the smokes for 2 days! and couldnt stand it anymore and went and bought more. I know...
By the way I changed my name from Hopeless to Always hope. That should help ...

Good move Alwayshope. You are meant to be a day between 1 and 14 and keep smoking till that day when hopefully the champix would've kicked into your brain receptors. Cravings for me have lessened and the taste when I have a smoke is not the same. I have cut my smoking by 2/3 and I don't smoke the whole thing. Have you started yet or picked a day. My day is Monday coming up fingers crossed
