Today, I quit.

Hi all!
i’m 21 years old, I live in SA, and i’ve smoked for 5 years now,
I need help! i’ve tried quitting, i’ve failed soo many times before, but this time I really want to do it. I need help dealing with pressure to smoke, all my friends smoke, it’s hard, i live in a small town, so meeting new people who dont smoke is near impossible, i don’t want to push my friends away, but i don’t want to feel pressured to smoke, how do other people do it? Do i just stick to myself for awhile? should i have a chat to them and get their thoughts, any advice is extremely appreciated

If you really want to quit Grossy, you can. Just make up your mind to. Denying yourself of friends will not make it doable, probably you will no longer choose to quit. We older folks know how much it has costs in terms of health and dollars over the years. We no longer care as much about "peer pressure" and live as we choose to. Perhaps telling your friends that you are saving up for something really cool. .....Maybe if you stick around with us and learn about the nicotine addiction you will relay it to your friends and have them quit too. Money saved for an awesome group trip or series of concerts in the future.....maybe they feel as you do and would also like to quit.

Welcome Grossy, time to come to terms with yourself and not worry about anyone else, you don't need to say or do anything to your friends if you don't want to, but it won't hurt if you have a special friend to confide in. This time practice NOPE (not one puff ever) every day. This will make your resolve doable. Stay close to the forum and post again or read what others have been doing.
