Hello

I’m new to this idea of joining a website to help me quit, I’ve cut down to 3-4 a day and intend to make that 0 by the 1st of January 2020. Thanks to all the encouraging people who share their struggles and successes.

Kind regards

It’s nice that you’ve been cutting down and have some time to work on prepping yourself. As nuts says, it’s all about the right mindset. I’m on what I believe to be my final quit attempt right now, on day 5, and I’ve learned a lot about getting into the right head space. I would spend the next few weeks:

1. Focusing on all the things you hate about smoking every time you do smoke. Chest tightness, bad breath, the money every time you buy a pack, the feeling of anxiety when you don’t think you have enough smokes in a day.

2. Get yourself feeling confident. Tell yourself that this is the end, there’s no other option. You’ve got this!

Hello Charliesangle and good for you for taking the opportunity to better your future. Have you been with us and learning for long? Understanding nicotine and its effects on us can help you to change your way of thinking towards smoking. Are you taking an aid or just cut down? While cutting down is beneficial in that it gives you practice in dealing with the cravings, it also becomes increasingly difficult to go lower than what you are comfortable. I jumped my quit date because just 3 or 4 cigarettes a day was just harder than taking the plunge. With 3 or 4 cigarettes from a normal 30 a week ago (me) it is hard not to think about the next smoke and then we get so much relief from it because it fixed the craving that it itself caused that we look forward to that next cigarette, which is kind of contrary to our goal. The idea is to see the evils of smoking, not enjoy the relief it brings.

The good thing is that you have the belief that you can do this and you can! The journey is much easier with the mindset to embrace a new lifestyle. It is not totally about ridding of nicotine which will be the first part of your journey if you are going cold turkey. Perhaps you will give us more facts. We are here to help you if you have questions or just want the support.

It seems you have a plan to meet your goal. Stick to it, think positive and you will do it!

Hello there Charliesangel! Welcome.

I too was new to this website. I'm on Day 8.

I don't think I would've got to DAY 3 without the support, encouragement and understanding of Nicotine dependence and how to get to be a non smoker.

Please participate and you will have the comfort and friendship of true friends who honestly want to help you QUIT.

They've been in the situation you are in. They can help you. Keep trying.

The best mantra is N.O.P.E.

Not.One.Puff.Ever. your goal is to be nicotine FREE! Good luck
