Quitting On Champix

started smoking at the age of 15 averaging a pack a day and am now 30. today is day 10 on champix. my quit day was day 9 but surprisingly i didnt smoke since day 4. i tried to quit several times previously using gums, patches, cold turkey but always failed. champix did magic the last 6 days except for minor nausea and some weird dream couple of times.
i am happy with were i am and doing my best to continue. just wanted to share my experience with champix as i was really scared to take it once i read some terrible experiences. i hope i ill succeed and wont experience any of the common side effects of champix. am little worried of the time when i finish the 3 months but cant wait to really become a non smoker.
wish me luck

I wish you luck Trying009, but it is not about luck nor trying, but determination and the desire to be free of the addiction. I am sure you will have no problem closing this deal, as you seem to have that desire and "can't wait to be a non-smoker". In fact you are already technically a non-smoker. Only you know when that change of "desire" and embracing the concept took/takes place. Old habit die hard does not have to hold . Choosing change comes much easier than fighting it. Welcome this change in your life for what it is, the single best thing that you will ever do for yourself and your family.
I do believe that this forum can contribute to your mindset. As far as concerns on Champix, have someone close to you be aware and look for signs of depression or abnormal changes. You seem happy and doing well on this journey thus far, i doubt you will encounter problems.

Welcome Trying 09. I am on Champix or should I say I am now off the Champix, and mentally have to remind myself that it was my own self who got me here along with the Champix. As to side effects, I couldn't tolerate the evening dose, so just took the morning one; basically half the dosage that is recommended.
Some others on this forum, took the 2nd dose early in the evening rather than late at night. As to the anxiety! yes! I felt anxious about stopping Champix, and have added to my list of helping strategies, this forum and Reading and my own belief system which was and at times still is sadly lacking. The visual content on Utube "How to be a happy non-smoker" and this forum was and still is my best helper.
If you are receiving a script through your doctor, then you might consider working it out with her/him during and after the finish of your current prescription you can extend it but cannot receive one in the following year (in Australia).
By the way am doing very well and in relation to yourself I am a whole lot older but I keep myself fairly active and fit (both physically and mentally) I think this is a key factor.
Congratulations and stay in touch when you can

I am also on champix, day four today but still smoking,I haven’t set my quit date yet as I was told it takes around two weeks before the champix is through my system.I am really scared I won’t succeed in quitting and I know it will kill me if I don’t.
I am 57 and have been smoking since the age of ten,I now have heart disease and Copd and hate that I am so addicted to these killer sticks.
Scared for life

Hi Jules62,
Today marks 32 days smoke free.
Based on my champix experience, i can say that as long as you really want to quit, champix will do the trick. Stay positive, dont give up, set your quit day, push your limits and you will see that it is much easier than you think. Continue reading success stories on this forum.
