I need help with quitting vaping. I know this is a smoking forum but vaping is just as addicting and I keep slipping up. I keep telling myself I am going to quit and then two days later I buy another pack. I just need more support because I feel like I am on my own in this so if anyone could help it would be much appreciated if I could get any tips or support in general. Thank You.

Hi Bnol. You have come to a great place for support and answers. Regardless of the addiction, the steps are pretty much basic. First you have to want to make the change and work towards it with a positive attitude. I assume you are using nicotine vaping which is an addiction, although the habit or anticipation of its use on a regular basis much also be addressed. In fact the latter is the longest and hardest part of the journey in reality. Nicotine addiction itself can be done and over in about 72 hours . It is our habit and need to fill the desire and void it leaves that is hardest to overcome.

Replacing the habit with a good habit is recommended. Exercise and learning both increase the dopamine production to make us happier during the process. Read and learn . I have posted Allan Carr who is great at allaying our fears and correcting the misconceptions of smoking/vaping.

Although vaping is probably somewhat safer than smoking cigarettes, the long term consequences are still not known. The need for that nicotine still controls your time and still increases your blood pressure undulyl. It is time to quit, so embrace the journey as something you truly want, as you would any life time dream. It is one of the most important decisions of your life, and you can do it!

Thank you so much. I am very confused though and I wanted to get something off of my chest. Ill start with the one week where I did not vape at all. I was on vacation with my girlfriend's family and then as soon as I got back from vacation I wasn't even craving the juul or anything. I don't know what the feeling was but I knew that I didn't need it and I wasn't REALLY wanting it. However, I still went to the store and got some but I don't know why.

Hi Benoi, that same thing used to happen to me when I was a smoker. I’d go to the store and buy a pack even though i didn’t want one. It’s all mental. Mindset is the key to success. Try to concentrate on something else. I used to sick on the straw imagining it was a cig but try to break the cycle. Good luck.

It sounds like you fell into a hole or void that had you flounder for a moment until you realized that you didn't really need it. At the same time you are worried that although you don't need it now, you might, and of course you don't want to not have it should you feel the need in the wee hours of the morning. Better to be prepared, and once accessible you indulged. I had smokes available while i quit cold turkey, after all, it is a CHOICE I WANT TO EXERT, I do not want to feel that i am being deprived. Panic may set in like a non-swimmer in a boat without a life jacket within reach . If your mind is at ease, so will you be.

Entering this journey with a clear view of what you wish to accomplish , with a true desire and positive attitude, you can find the mindset to complete this journey and to maintain it for a lifetime as well.
