I gave up a few times Kylie and I too thought it was hard, my intention was sincere but I lacked the knowledge of what the ONE cigarette can do to your journey of giving up. Actually there is nothing you have to give up because the problem is not only the tar but the nicotine which is the addictive substance and can stop you from succeeding, most of us have read Alan Cars book which identifies the mental attitude that is needed to succeed along with placing the hideous addictive nicotine as part of the problem. You do not say if you are getting any aids to help you. This time you have this forum, so no excuses to stop you from learning more about this problem.

Have you tried using Zyban? Its working wonders for me. None of those horrible physical cravings. Granted Im only just starting Day 3, but Ive quit for good.

Oh I'm so sorry - I'm on day 52 and it is hard, but there are a few things that have helped me- drinking water first thing in the morning instead of having a cigarette, deep breathing and feeling great that it doesn't hurt and I don't cough, remembering the smell, remembering if I smoke I'll stink it will stink, I'll feel light headed and won't even enjoy it, will be SO disappointed and disgusted with myself.

You can deep breathe through the hard times they pass, and there's' more time between each hard time every day.

It DOES get easier like everyone says.

maybe we should try that carr book everyone's talking about.

How long have you quit for?

HOLD on - you can do this

You are already nearly there. It is on your mind constantly. You have become obsessive with wanting to give up but just need something to make you commit. You will feel so accomplished and proud when you finally do it. It will happen when the time is right for you....

We never decided to smoke Kylie. Made the mistake of trying it, and then the nicotine addiction took hold. Tobacco companies add chemicals even arsenic to them I have read. Whatever they can do to keep you addicted for the rest of your life. To give you that hit of dopamine that keeps you coming back for more and more.

It is the nicotine that compells you to satisfy the craving. The cigarettes are the cause of this craving, this relentless never ending cycle. The cycle can be broken and many here are proof it can be done.

You need to find the motivation and accept it in your mind. Allan Carr's book the Easy Way to Quit Smoking or his Stop Smoking Permanently are good books you can get at your local library. I have a link, but I don't believe it works any more. I will have to see if I can find another one. I hope many took advantage while it was accessible and free.

Start improving your health by keeping cigarettes out of reach so that you smoke mindfully. Surprising how many we don't even realize we do. When you do smoke, think about the negatives, the taste....swish it...taste the poison. Smoke while doing nothing else but devoting the time to it. You will soon start to resent the time it takes and understand it's power over you.

Read and learn until you can wrap your head around it. When you want to quit smoking more than you want to smoke, it will happen. Baby step will get you there....
