I FEEL MISERABLE

schedule 13 May 2019

I don't want to get out of bed. I have no motivation. Last time I tried quitting I became so depressed that I caved in on day 10. I've smoked for 50years and actually enjoy it. Do I have the will power...I don't know.

Hello! Well it's different for everybody, but certainly not impossible. I'm much younger than you and I smoked for much less - 3 1/2 years. I stopped because I had some serious dental problem.. the thing is - I don't know If I'll stay quit. I started out because of my family problems and stress. First time I shared my cigarette with my mom was after my first visit to the psychologist. It bonded me and my mom so I started seeing it as a good thing. I loved and still love smoking. I don't do it because now I have some clear reasons why that one memory of me and my mom bonding over smoking is not good enough to overpower all the bad things it did to me and those around me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that most of people that quit had some kind of reason to do so that changed their perspective on smoking. I thought telling you this story would make my answer different and you would know me a little better so I'm not just some stranger on the internet that tells you ''You can do it''! It's okay that (if) you can't... It just doesn't have to be like that forever. Maybe you will stop this year, maybe next. So find your reasons and look from all different angels, I'm sure one of them will make you fill better about stopping and will help you on your journey.

Milena is definitely right in that you need to find the motivation for yourself.

Perhaps you should read my post (story) of Given Up , Giving Up?Try This! I call it my backwards quit plan in that you start by changing your mindset about smoking, and then impliment changes to routine and behaviour (Habit).

Reading Allan Carr's book which i have also linked in my stories is chocked full of valuable information and advice.

Anyone can quit smoking. Willpower alone is doomed to fail. Read , learn and believe you can and you will.

Starting with a plan and positivity are crucial.
