So hard to get past 3 days

I have tried 7 times to quit and find it so hard to get past 3 days smoke free. Any help is appreciated

Now that's a question, and maybe here's a common starting point for most of us; overcoming an addiction to nicotine that might be decades old isn't likely to happen in a week. From that fact everyone pretty much has to find their own workable path and that's the value of this forum; so many quit paths are shared, and one particular path - or a part of it, perhaps mixed with parts of others - might well work for someone else. I set my quit day as the Friday I flew down to Brissy to stay with a mate and his family for 10 days over New Year. They're non smokers, as are the vast majority of their family and friends. For me, that was the environment I needed to get my quit journey underway - although equiped with a 72 pack of 4mgm nicotine lozenges which have helped me a lot. That gave me time to work on the mental attitude, which I gained insight into through suggestions on this forum. I don't think of myself as a smoker who can't have a cigarette because I'm trying to quit, or even as an ex smoker. I simply don't smoke (not even smoke any more) and that's it. There are still times (I'm only in day 23) when that mental attitude gets hard to maintain so I return to this forum, admit I'm struggling, and back come more supportive comments than I could have ever hoped for. Finding the right path that works for each individual isn't easy, but it is possible and you can do it.

Hi, I am day 16 so really new to quitting as well. I did cold turkey. For me the money I save by not smoking was a big driver. Cig are 35.00 per 25 pack. So that about 35.00 per day. been smoking 40 years. So i Quit and then called my kids and promised them them a trip 20,000.00 in two year with them money i saved so my kids are gonna be hurt if i smoke. the idea of having time with all my kids together with me is worth everything. As they live in different countries. So I think having a strong driving force helps and sometime you have to make the driving force happen.
We all have different things that drive us. Different methods work for different people so keep trying. I promise once you get pass the 3 days it gets better. still hard but better. I am at the stage where its so much better.
I do use this place a lot. reading about quitting helps. something will help some not. walking helps a lot. anything that requires deep breathing helps. yoga, running, even crying lol.
Do expect your self to emotional durning the withdraw. avoid stress as much as you can. and remember to reward yourself somehow. can be as small as ice cream or a big as you can dream only you know what you need. And remember only 3 days to break free for the rest of your life.
