schedule 24 Dec 2018

Hi i am seventy years old have smoked all my life since i was ten years old.Like many people i have tried and failed quiet a few times to give up but always went back to smoking

i have had a smokers cough for years and started to realised i was the odd one out as less and less people are smoking so 45 days ago i woke up one morning and was fed up with waking up and wanting a smoke fed up with coughing fed up with feeling out of breath i decided i was quiting that day and have not had a smoke since i have done it cold turkey and i have the times when i would love a drag in a cigaret but need does not last long i downloaded a app to keep track of my not smoking its called get rich or die smoking

this has been a great help i can see that i have saved $1839.09 in 45 days i do not cough anymore and i can breath in deeply

my app says to buy myself a treat so i bought a new chain saw that i have wanted for a long time never even missed the money as i banked the money that i would have spent on smokes

cant believe how much money is building up in that account

Anyway what i want to say is if i can do it after all this time you can to so keep trying

Hi Redfield. That is such an inspirational story and I hope you don't mind if i refer to it under my New Years Resolution-what now page that I hope to fill with success stories like yours to encourage newcombers who may be by shortly. I will join another quit group and drop a story like you just did. Wouldn't it be great if everyone who made a resolution to quit smoking this year really could find the motivation to stick with it!

Good luck to you and all my fellow smokers. May we have a busy season ahead on iCanQuit and other great sites!

Thanks Redfield, it's good to know that it's not too late (I am nearly 60). I really regret that I have lived my life for tobacco and not for myself, family and friends. I have always been ashamed of my adfiction and tried to hide it from others. Onwards and upwards toward a better quality of life.
