Carry your smokes

I Had my last cigarette on 10th July 1993. I had been a smoker for the previous 35 years. I’d experienced the frustration of having cigarettes and nothing to light them with. Terrible. I decided I wanted to give them up and knew I was stronger than the habit. A lot of the cigarettes I had were from habit. I didn’t really want one just lit up from habit. I had half a packet of cigs. I put a bic lighter in the packet then sealed it with sticky tape. I carried the packet for 6 months after it was sealed. At times I would pull out the fags from habit only to realise that I was trying to give up. There was no frustration because I knew I had cigs and a lighter. It was up to me whether or not I opened the pack. A couple of times I was tempted but was strong enough to put them back in my pocket. Food started to taste better, less money was being spent. I got to a point where I couldn’t stand the smell of smokes. It’s now been more than 25 years since I beat the habit.
At work I helped others give up using the same system, with a very high success rate.
