Just starting again after 20+ failed attempts

I'm writing this as a sort of future manifesto for myself as well as others. I've had so many failed quit attempts, I stopped counting after 20. I'd google, "Quitting after lots of failed attempts" and would seldom find any results. It seemed as though people just give up after a certain number of attempts.

However, I know that this is a way for me to "breakthrough" some of the anxiety I have been experiencing because it in itself is a trigger for anxiety.

I figured, eventually, that there must be something wrong with my long-term planning ability, although I managed to reach a B1 level in German through practising every day. I also managed to learn python for my Master's program before the program starts by setting up a schedule. I am now learning a fourth language, with a translation career running, and it seemed like SMOKING was the only thing I could not plan long-term.

It seemed so ironic that I could do things and stick to them - sports, fitness, food, education, learning new languages, etc... but never for smoking.

Now I realize that it's maybe because smoking is like something being "taken away" rather than "added" to my life.

I really hope it goes well on days 1, 3, 4, and 7 because those are usually the toughest for me.

Good luck for anyone quitting soon as well.

Welcome Shorouq. Firstly dont beat yourself up that you haven't quit successfully yet as today is a new day and the choice is yours really. You have to want to quit more than anything you have to be over it and determined to let go of the crutch. I have quit heaps and heaps of times also sometimes for a few months but my best effort was 7 years. I'm on day 72 today and I just take it day by day and I've let go of the past failed attempts as it's all a choice and I've decided I dont want to be a slave to cigarettes anymore. Let's get something clear though you are not giving anything up you are taking back control of your health, money, time and mind. So goodluck and stay strong😊
