schedule 14 Aug 2018

Hi all,

This is my 2nd time on champix I was on it 10 yrs ago and gave up for 8 months then yep went and brought a packet and started again ! Now it's time as I have just had a scare ,I'm in my 4th week of champix , and havnt had a cigi for 5 days yay , the only side affects I have is im living on 4hrs sleep and have a fuzzy head 😢 I'm not feeling sick in the stomach at all thank god ! But omg the mood swings are so bad ! I still get some really strong cravings that I struggle with then I have a cry and it passes ,this is bloody soo hard but I will beat it as I have to due to my health problems . Just wondering if anyone else has had the fuzzy head will it get better the longer I'm on the medication?

Thanks in advance all

Hang in there 7 Bell. You have done very well to go 5 days - you've done it. I wonder if some of the moodswings are from the cravings, where you realise that you don't smoke any longer, then panic! Perhaps this can be turned into a positive experience in your own mind, where you realise that you are now free from the addiction and embrace the fact with great joy 😃

I'm in exactly the same boat! 5th day off ciggies and also taking Champix, and I'm feeling sooo spacey today. Feels like I'm walking around in a dream and really tired but have difficulties falling asleep. I'm sure it will pass though and I can't wait to get my normal brain back!

Hi it's sooo horrible!! I'm hoping it will pass tho .. I hope someone sees my story that has been on champix longer as I'm in my 5 th week now .. it takes me ages to go to sleep then I wake up and take tablet and it starts again ... I just want to feel normal but I know I can definitely not give up without the help 😢😢

I'm struggling today ! Thinking of cutting down the champix can not handle the empty feeling in my head ... went to work and can not even concentrate 😢 I wonder if one tablet a day will make me feel better ? I can live with lack of sleep but this fuzziness has to go like the cigarettes! Please can any suggest anything....

The fact that you are doing it and haven't had a cigarette for 5 days is in itself fan bloody tastic! You are a legend!! The hardest part is making the decision to give up and being motivated and stubborn enough to do it. For me it was 'I want my life back'. Champix worked for me. I too had tried it a couple of times over the years. However, once I had stopped smoking for ONE entire day, that was enough for me to keep at it. I hadn't until that point ever done that before. I smoked for 40 odd years. I kept taking the Champix for a couple of weeks after but then stopped taking them. Yes, I definitely had mood swings.......an anger would suddenly come over me and I would snap at someone. I guess it was a combination of many things but I think Champix played an important part in the process. Keep at it. The reward is breath easier, having lots more money, and a HUGE sense of accomplishment. It has been 9 months for me now. I will never start up again. You go you good thing!

Hi Puffer, loved reading your message to 7 Bell. I’m on my second day of Champix and am freaking out about all the side effects, but know I’ve got to it. Let’s face it we want to live! Xx
