Hi guys. I am actually very excited to be part of this community as I finally decided to attempt quitting smoking. I have been smoking for the last 6 yrs and started as a social smoker, so would only smoke on weekends 2-3 cigarettes per day. I then started to smoke more frequently and ended up smoking 10-20 cigarettes per day. I started feeling chest thigtness, breathlesness, fatique, tachycardia - my normal pulse rate at rest is always above 100- something that worries me, being a nurse. Another reason, as a nurse teaching people not to smoke, I am feeling so bad being the “heavy” smoker myself. So here i am, have just taken the first dose of my Champix starter pack, and reading all your stories i am really hoping that it will help me out. The will is there, i just need to keep reminding myself and stay strong i guess. Wish me luck!

Hi Red, thank you so much for your support and encouragment. You are right I know i can do this and this is my third week on Champix and its my second non smoking week. I am amazed how I don’t even think about smoking. I used to always start my day with a coffee and a smoke and I realized that now I don’t even think of making a coffee, which suprises me. I could not live without it, ha ha. But I now realize was just a habit, together with smoking. I know its early to say but if i could do this i think everybody can. Champix works amazing in terms of withdrawal symptoms. Even if you light up a cigarette it just tastes awful, and you never have the will to try it again.
