Hello Sagittarius, smart turkey is a great quitting method, learned from reading as much as possible about the filthy addiction, so that you can be armed. I read Alan Carr several times, I think I have it now. I can't bear the thought of smoking, even after just one week. Every day I celebrate that I don't have to smoke any more.

Hi Sagittarius, I'm hoping for the same experience as you on Champix. Seems to be working well for you at the moment :) I've hesitated in taking this drug for some time now but I feel so helpless in giving up and I want to so desperately.

Hi Chardynon, I still have not had any reaction to Champix apart from a touch of nausea (10mins) after my 3rd smoke in the morning, need more space in between them. Remember your brain has to work with the Champix in order to quit. Keep telling yourself that this 'love affair' with nicotine is coming to an end. I only smoke outside so now I am spending more time inside until I break this habit once and for all. My Doctor told me that I can have the Nicobate Mini's when I have a bad urge. I did get some sugarless lollies and they seem to help. Does anyone else have any other tips?

Here's another tip. Don't smoke a full cig, have half and then later the other half. Helps you cut down. Sometimes I only have a couple of puffs so your cutting down.

Don't do it! It will make you quit about as much as patches do - without the horrible side effects. The reports are no joke! Its a very dangerous drug. It resulted in me getting cancer 4-5mths after taking it. And the same for many others but the link isn't noticed. There are some reports from 2010 of aggressive cancers following use of champix. The depression, utter fatigue and suicidal ideation persists 6 yrs later. You need to work out WHY your are smoking beyond the addiction -ie. Energy levels, thyroid, stress, hormones - and address THE ACTUAL ISSUE causing your addiction. Natural is better and Allen Carr's book works - it will take you just as far on your quit journey as will patches and you won't sit there by yourself later regretting taking some drug that makes these money hungry pharmaceutical companies billions of $. DONT DO IT!

The drug causes permanent damage and changes to vital processes in the brain. It can't be undone like you can take a patch off. It takes up to 7-9years for your body to recover and replace all cells etc. Even then the damage can already be done. The TGA has received several documents questioning why there are not warning labels on the Australian version and it continues to be ignored and covered up.

I am in week 5 of Champix and going well. I am not pushing myself, just taking one day at a time. I am still doing the 5-7 a day and I think another week and they will be lower. I bought some Nicorette Cool Drops to try. I tested one out yesterday and I believe they will work. They are 2mg, not an overpowering taste that blows your head off, quite pleasant. Why am I hesitant in using them I wonder? Is it because I know they will work with the Champix and I will be smoke free? Does nicotine still have some power over me?
