Hi. I've just started the 3rd week on champix and still wanting to smoke? When does the not wanting a cig kick in? I'm feeling sick on the champix but it's bearable. No dreams and sleeping okay . But why are my cravings still so strong? The pharmacists has given me a quit date for the 9th March, but can't See How I'm gonna be able too as still got strong cravings for a cigg, especially the morning one. Help. Any advice . I thought these were supposed to be miricle tablets ?

Hi there thanks . I'm aware I have to change my mindset & do want to quit. The reason I mentioned ' miricle' is because that's how I keep hearing people describe champix lol I smoke roll ups and only about 15 a day , and that's 15 to many. ... I'm just not noticing any thing like that's been described by others ? Maybe I have a pacebo?? . How bad can someone not want to smoke. I hate the taste , the stink & feeling powerless over rizlas, tips & tobacco... no one else in my family smokes. My grown up children hate it & i quit for 15 years with no help or substitute. Only been smoking again for the last 18 months and hated every part of it.still, I feel that addicted to nicotine I'm a mess. Feel guilty and thoroughly ashamed at myself for starting. Believe me I need to quit & dearly want to . But nothings working for me. If these tablets even made them taste more disgusting than they do I'm sure it would be some help...

I can't believe how much I've let this control my life. I can't blame IT, blaming myself for letting IT take over.

WOW reading the above made me even stronger. A few minutes ago I added my story which is very similar to Red_67. I thought I was alone but clearly I'm not. Thank you guys :) I have fallen in love with you all :)

Hi,
I just registered and wanted to see experiences. I'm smoke freeeee for 10 days now and i use champix. As everyone says, it is not miracle. But wait that's not it. There is 2 different periods while using champix. Before the quit date and after it. My personal experience was, contrary to many others who lost their desire to smoke, that i smoked even more than before coz i could't get the same taste or feeling of smoking so i used to lit another one shortly after smoking that cigarette. I thought i was going to be worse. Get yourself prepared with allen carr. That's a good idea at least for the first two days. The book of allen carr is konda boring because he repeats the same thing over and over again so it makes a book of 150 pages which could have been 50 pages. There is a vifeo on youtube or somewhere else. A film about allen carr methode. Definitely woth watching before you put off your last cigarette. This will carry you at least 2 days. After that, just don't think about the deadly illnesses that cigarette cause. We all know them. But this makes us even more stressed and we get another reason for smoking one useless stick.
The day you quit is not going to be as easy as they say, but it is not going to be as difficult as cold turkey.
Just resist to that first one. After 20 minutes you will appreciate your decision. It wont be easy but not impossible.
Champix helps you a lot. Just dont smoke for 3-4 days, you will realise the strength of cravings will decrease immediately. My life saving sentence has been "Resisting to the first cigarette is much easier than resisting to the second" As a 10 days smoke free person, i can tell you at this point where i am, it is much easier. First cig of the day? I don't even think about it anymore. During the day, only 3 -4 times it comes but can't even be considered as craving. That's what champix does.
Nausea? Just eat something before you take it.
Wish you, and myself too, a very enjoyable journey. It is an incredible feeling to be free. Colours around me are brighter and the will get even brighter i suppose! We can do it! There is no physical pain, don't forget.
