Why can't I just STOP because I want to? Trying again today, but wanting to run to the shop and 'reward' myself. Just writing this reminds me that smoking is not a reward. Have Alan Carrs audio book - start again. The only problem with listening to an audio book, is that when you hear something that you want to save, you might not be in a position to do that (eg driving)

Hi again. I found something that you may not have tried. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dXu8iAfPGA ........I am saving this to post after the new year. I do hope stuff i post will help some here , but particularly the newcomers so they will stick with it. I am going to flog the smart turkey til it is dead, which won't be popular with NRT users. You read whyquit, about how cutting down is not effective, and just a torture. On the other hand it may induce others to give up rather than quit the NRT and go smart turkey. What do you think.?
We can discuss it here as it is not a new post and unlikelier to be viewed. Our secret meeting place. Let me know your thoughts and if this link for you , or any of my posts resonate. I truly wish everyone could find their way to a happier, healthier smoke free life as i have.

Hello Happiness, thanks very much for your support, it's a great help to me.
I have, like you, (in the past) been very active in trying to support others to quit.
There was a very good UK site called whyquit.co.uk, but it has either been closed down or blocked to people outside the UK.
It was very focused on smart turkey. A user could either quit now or do the 10 day pre quit program. It was very good, lots of users and lots of support. It would be great to set up a site like that in Australia.
I think that part of the solution is to get people to research and come up with their own reasons for quitting in the preparation period - every day they need to work on their quit for a certain period of time.

That is sound thinking weewillem . Everyones perceptions, feelings and methods of dealing with situations and advice will differ in some way. We can only put the ideas out there and hope that they can interpret them correctly and use them in a way that benefits their particular situation.
Even listening to motivational tapes to gain a sense of confidence would be of great benefit to some i think who although grasping the mindset, still seem to have the faith in themselves or have not stopped fearing. Perhaps they should research those self help ideas. I have stated that you need to learn about nicotine and YOURSELF to understand how to defeat it.
I am sure that even though i have posted hours worth of stuff, i will still find more to rave on about...lol. As long as it helps someone i am happy to do it.
