Already have emphysema and other diseases
I start Champix today (28th March 2018) and my quit day is April 5th (7 days away). Firstly, I am not going to beat myself up if I fail on first attempt. Having emphysema is so ghastly I need to quit no matter what it takes or I will die. Simple as that! I have smoked for 51 years. This therefore is a huge and scary step for me to take and I appreciate that I will get help from this site from others going through the same thing.

Good Morning weewillem. Thank you for your post. I have heard of that book and will seek it out. With me, I have noticed that I would be quite unconscious of the fact that I had lit a cigarette - especially when at the computer or watching TV (ad breaks were always the signal for a smoke). I no longer smoke in the house, no matter what the weather or time of day or night, and have to get up and go out which then eliminates the mindless lighting up.
