My psychiatrist says don't give up, but I'm going to anyway

Hi,
I have schizophrenia and have been a heavy smoker ever since I got the illness. Before then I was a social smoker.
Every time I've tried to give up (which is many times) I've ended up going completely mad and been hospitalized. My psychiatrist thinks I should keep smoking. But my problem is I can't afford it. I'm on the disability pension and I worked out I'm spending about 9K a year on it (almost half my income). I've even been skimping on food to afford ciggies. So I have to give up.
I'm on day 3 and so far it's OK. Anybody got any advice for how to deal with mental health issues with nicotine withdrawal?
Thanks

Yes I agree, talk to your GP as you can get the patches cheaper, I have borderline personality disorder, anxiety and depression, I tried champix and tried to take my life on the 1st Of feb due to taking champix, I’m also on a disability pension and I can’t afford it and for my health. I’m starting the patches on Tuesday and I have a vape machine when times get really tuff!! Good luck and keep posting

Sorry, I meant dose it have nicotine in it! I've looked but only see the flavoured ones with no nicotine.
Thanks

Yes well I had to order my nicotine fluid from New Zealand, but it can be ordered i America as well, I ordered 14 mg and I only got this because of my mental health issues and anxiety, I’ve tried champix no good and not recommend for you with your mental health issues, here in Australia I pay $40 for a pack of 30’s which is so expensive!! But even though it has all those ingredients the Red has said I need the patches and the vape, I couldn’t of even got to day 3 without them both. You order the nicotine online from what ever country and you need to mix it with vape oil as well do not just smoke the nicotine oil on its own, that’s a must not do.
Hope this helps good luck with your journey!
