I suffer from an anxiety disorder and I’m battling against my urge to smoke when I get anxious. I’m using patches which seem to make no difference to me, but also gum and quick mist. I tried hypnosis and it didn’t work because of my heightened anxiety so I went cold turkey. I’m one week clean and going on a wellness retreat to gain better coping strategies for my anxiety to help with when my anxiety makes me want to smoke. Hopefully all this will help me quit for good.
Yes I just read our anxiety levels are actually lower naturally before nicotine plays with our system. So the anxiety should lessen once the addiction is dealt with. I have anxiety issues too, on day 43 smoke free and feel pretty even anxiety wise, pretty calm. Have had a couple of bad days but overall it is getting better. All the best with your journey, you can do it.
