10th Time is a charm

I'm 27 days clean today and did it cold turkey. It was a process of trying over and over again, sometimes multiple times a week. Finally, one day I decided to accept that it was going to be hard no matter what I did: i would get angry; I would have cravings; I would have anxiety; I would have all the symptoms and would just have to deal with them as they came. So that's what I did. Every time I wanted a cigarette, I told myself I was having a craving and I could wait until some time in the next few minutes or hours and then have one if I still wanted it. I just kept doing that. I slept a lot the first week as well. It's been a rollercoaster ride so far of emotions, but I accept that they are normal and I don't need to fight them. When I get angry for no reason, I tell myself, "It's the nicotine". When I get anxious or depressed, "It's ok, it's the nicotine, it will pass." And so far it has worked.

Keep at it..well done..i also am cold turkey 24 days today..I am not going to smoke..no matter what

Newly starting to cut down. I'm doing okay at first with work but before and after, it gets a little harder plus I just went through my first weekend of it with a family bbq involving alcohol and managed to have less than I usually would. I am a little worried about going through it all but your story has given me some tips to do it so thank you.
