Time to quit

Hi everyone,
I've just begum my first serious attempt to quit smoking. I have tried (without much dedication) to quit before using patches or cold turkey but my effort was always more directed at cutting down rather than stopping all together. This time I'm determined to quit for good. I went to the drs and got Champix, I read the Alan Carr book, and signed up here for a bit of support. I guess I'm trying the every little bit helps approach. Not celebrating yet, but I quit on day 13 of the Champix and am not a day and a half smoke free! Hoping I'll be able to keep in up (despite the craving and the headache) and ditch the expensive, dirty, nasty cancer sticks for good!
Good luck to all the quitters out there!

Hi Quittime and welcome to the establishment. Look there is no such thing as cutting down because you will be just fighting yourself for time to elapse. If you WANT to quit you just have to say that is it.Will not be easy but if you are serious you will WIN. Cheers and keep posting.

Hey Quittime - I did the exact same thing. Went straight to Champix and now on week three, 15 days smoke free.
As of today however, I have decided to stop taking the Champix as it does mess with your head a little when you up the dose.
Stay strong, I wrote down all the reasons why I wanted to quit and have them on a wall in my office, I also wrote down the amount that I am saving and downloaded the Gov Quit App.
You can do this! Its a tough road as you would be used to the routines of smoking but once you pass that, you will be a very happy person!
All the best and good luck..

Hi ktavae
Thanks for the support! I'm on day 5
today and feeling really positive about it. Still get the urge to have a smoke but killing it with water and walking. The champax has worked a treat and I'm glad I made the decision to try it. Your right, it does make you feel a little weird (vague and tired) especially about a hour after a dose, a little nauseous and some very vivid dreams, but I'm coping with it Ok and no serious side effects that
are concerning me.
It's good to hear from someone else who quit with the champix, most of the stories on here are people who have braved the cold turkey method- I was starting to feel like a sook!
Best wishes for coming off the champix and keep up with the quitting. I guess at the end of the day you just have to draw a line under it and say NO MORE! Thanks again 😀
