Quit date set

Hi.
I am 46 yrs old and have never tried quitting smoking - for decades I've been well aware of the impact of smoking on all levels - but as I am sure you can all so relate, an addict actually doesn't care about the negatives and follows through with the next fix and "makes sense" of the habit it to the endth degree.
My journey of bondage, and internal tug of war is now unmanageable and can no longer be sustained emotionally.
With all of this internal struggle on a daily basis, guilt-ridden by bedtime, the next day the smoking continues - the mind and body constantly on the battle field.
I am elated to have found this on-line community to whom I can be accountable without feeling pressurised, but inspired instead. This is after being on the Allen Carr course and smoking the very next day, after reading article after article, after telling myself for years that it must stop.
My Quit Date is set for 1 Oct.
I look forward to letting you know how my 1st day went.

Hello Red-67
It's precisely the enslavement part that I want to break free from.
Went with advice on this site of setting my quit date within 2 weeks and preparing my mind for it.
Thank you for the encouragement - it is much needed.
