First time trying to quit

Hi everyone! I'm Alicia, I'm 24 years old and I'm trying to quit smoking for the first time!
I started when I was 17 and have only taken a break during my pregnancy with my daughter who is now 14 months old. I went cold turkey when I found out, had zero cravings as I wasn't just doing it for me but the day I got to take her home I had one and couldn't stop. I have cut back in the last month or so but I really just want to stop cold turkey and never start again! I don't want to be a parent that sits on the sidelines and just watch my child grow up. I want to be able to run around and play with her without getting head spins or struggling to get air in my lungs!
Wish me luck, I'm in it for the long haul!

Hi Alicia and welcome to the site. You are still very young and this is the time to quit. You do not need cigarettes in your life. Try nrt and give it all you have. Only the first fortnight the hardest. Cheers.

Thank you for the support and suggestions! I've been cutting back over the last 2 months from a pack only lasting 2 days to lasting a week. I'm now on day 2 with no smoking. Haven't had any cravings yet but I haven't had a beer either so that will be the biggest test! Will keep checking in and reading more stories when I'm feeling weak. Thanks again!
