3 DAYS IN - CHAMPIX

schedule 13 Apr 2017

Hi everyone, so I decided last week that I wanted to stop smoking once and for all!! I am only 27 and I do not want to end up like my parents whose days revolves around smoking, and it is affecting their health so much but they still insist they are too long in the tooth now to quit!!

Anyway, so I went to my doctors and they prescribed my Champix(Chantix). I am now on day 8 of Champix and day 3 of quitting.

So the first tablet I took, I took on an empty stomach (I do not advise! lol) Got a headache, so I learned to eat first and then take my tablets each day. I have been drinking plenty of water everyday also so have not experienced any kind of sickness at all or any more headaches. Although the first 3 days I did have quite vivid dreams, but none since.

It is advised to quit smoking between day 8-14 with Champix, but on day 4 after smoking my third cig, I felt horrible, I didn't get the usual enjoyment from a cig, I couldn't even finish it! So I put the cig out and I have not smoked since!

I have probably had 2 or 3 cravings (not sure if that is the correct word as my body did not feel for a cig but my mind did if you get me lol) but it quickly passed within a minute or 2.

I should also say that I have been reading Allen Carr' book "the easy way to stop smoking" and it has completely changed my mind set on smoking. The book is quite repetitive and I don't know how it works but it must be doing something for me because im finding this quitting business very easy so far, mentally and physically.

Anyway I wish you all good luck in your quitting journeys and would love to hear all your stories so far :)

The book is fab!! I would recommended it to anyone thinking about quitting!! I definitely want to quit and I am determined to make it happen, I already feel like I will never smoke again, I literally hate it! But I'm afraid I might be speaking to soon so fingers crossed.

I have been going on at my parents to try and stop as well but they are not interested thought I've managed to talk my mum into giving the book a read to see what she thinks of it, so hopefully something will click on her mind and she will want to stop.

How long have u been a non smoker now? And how did u find ur first couple of weeks of being a non smoker? Sorry for the questions I am just curious as I don't think it's normal how great I feel right now lol :)

Well done on 8 weeks that's fab!! and the worst part is over you now you think of all the things you have to look forward to smoke free :)

I totally agree mind set is very important in stopping, without a positive attitude we are bound to fail!

Isn't it great, misslaura? We're free! I was always 'too busy' to read the book, although I had heard that it worked... I was scared of who I would be without cigarettes. I wanted to be free, but I could imagine spending the rest of my life missing them. Boo-hoo for the old me! I got the audio book and listened to it over two nights while I was at work. I wish I had realised how easily I could just stop. Day two was 21 days ago and I haven't even really wanted one. One night, I dreamed I was walking around with an unlit smoke that kept getting smaller, but was never lit. When I woke up I was super proud that even dreaming me wouldn't light that smoke :) All the best with staying off them, and getting your mum and dad to follow suit!
