Day 1

Posted in Getting started
schedule 19 Mar 2017

End of day 1. I've attempted before, but because i didn't really want to, i was unsuccessful. Lately i haven't been enjoying it so i got prescription patches. Tried champix before but it really messed with my mental health. I've had a few cravings today. The typical ones, morning coffee, after a meal etc but if i distract myself for about 10 minutes or so, it helps. My test will be driving to work. By then I'll be a couple days smoke free. Just have to take it 1 day at a time and when i feel like a smoke, I'll think about all the extra money I'll have instead. Great incentive! Lol

Good for you mishmash it's super hard but keep your chin up. Biggest hurdle is making your mind up and sticking to your guns. Day 3 was my most challenging but everyone is different. Biggest thing is to keep distracted and try not to beat yourself up if you slip up. You're human! Speaking of which, I've found this site and the encouragement people here give each other is amazing too so lean on that! Good luck!

Well done Mishmash, that first day is huge but from then on you'll be ok if you just take one day at a time. My goal was to get past that first day, then to reach day five! I was so pleased with myself when I got there. Now I'm on day 58 and the time has flown. I have been eating more especially in the first four weeks or so, but finally getting it under control. Keep coming back to this site daily because it really, really does help. I still think of having a cig but I don't really want one, if that makes sense. I miss the habit more than the cigarette, but in time that will be gone. Stay strong, ride with the cravings and temptation, they pass in a few minutes if you just distract yourself. Good luck, we're all behind you!
