Champix
Ive started taking champix, im still smoking but will cease in 5 days . I have had side effects such as nausea,abnormal dreams and sleepiness. I have also greatly reduced the amount i smoke and i dont seem to enjoy it anymore as i had once.That said i have been taking champix for 2 weeks. I was wondering if anyone has consumed alcohol whilst on champix and your experience.My partner is also taking champix, he is 2 weeks ahead of me and ive noticed when he drinks alcohol he behaves weird. Looking for some advice as im worried about drinking alcohol,many thanks
Welcome Cowboy 74, today I am 367 days smoke free, I also used champix, my first alcohol drink was 30 days smoke free, no real difference, but I also used the inhalers when I drank especially in the beginning as I was worried I might smoke, the champix did have some side effect for me mostly dreams or the inability to sleep, it did last quite a while, but I keep taking them as I believed I need that help. My best advice for you is to take one day at a time and never have even one puff once you stop, because there is no such thing as just one, good luck you can do this, stay focussed
I also used Champix and I found that I didn't even want to drink alcohol. When I tried it was a struggle. I don't know if it was the champix or the absence of a cigarette with my drink, but I've saved heaps on alcohol since I quit smoking! This from someone who used to head for the wine as soon as I got home from work every day!! Now I've stopped the champix as I believe I'll be ok without it, and I still struggle with a wine no matter how hard I try ;) So, quitting cigarettes has been excellent for me in more ways than I can count.
