Champix

Side effects Champix
I am on pack 1 end off week 3. 16 days smoke free, still get cravings. Vivid dreams, bad temper, exploded at work a week ago, huge blue last night with my 17 year old son. Do not know what is worse. BTW smoked for 40 years, mostly rollies. Feeling depressed.

Gooday Spied, mate i smoked 52yrs and about 30yrs was on rollies like you. People say Champix is something you need to be careful with.I preferred and still do prefer nrt lozenges although i am only on about 2 a day now. I know what you going through, it is a rough and rocky journey but no point losing your job with outbursts and getting on the wrong side of your son. Perservere, it is hard i kid you not but as time goes by you will notice changes that benefit you and also the stress starts to disappear although the cravings will still pay you visits, however they do not hang around for too long and then you start to master your discipline. Please bear the beginning cause the achievements will be very pleasing. Good luck all the best.

Hang in there I'm doing it cold tourky day 9 hardest thing Iv ever had to do.
I'm sure when the dust settles you will find your son is very proud of what you are doing.
Stay strong.

Hey Spied, my recommendation is to read past posts, there are heaps on here with such great tips and information that can help your mindset. Nicotine is a drug, it's controlling and it screws with your mind. You need to understand that it's not a habit your quitting but a drug addiction. It's hard but worth it. It's cruel but rewarding. Once your mind is in the right frame, you will do much better. I wish you all the luck..

Hi Spied, I used Champix and I'm day 326. I found that if I had champix w food and the 2nd one no later than 4pm, it made all the difference. After about a month I only ever experienced sleeplessness or nausea if I didnt have it w food or had it late in the day. You do have to take the full 3 month course though. After a certain time, I really don't remeber how long, I didnt have the cravings and when I'd finished I still didn't have the cravings for ciggies just for food. After the 3 months I started stacking on the weight, I plan to tackle that next year. I had a heart attack almost a year ago, so it's not an option to go back to smoking, the heart attack itself wasn't the big issue, for me it has been the 12months after, almost like PTSD! Do try to persevere w champix, what you are experience side effects wise is nothing compared to the side effects of hardened arteries, aching limbs due to poor circulation, not being able to take a really deep breath, etc etc. We all know it, it's just how bad we want it, don't let the bloody nicotine win! Good luck, be a roll model for your son and be around so you can enjoy him becoming a man.
