So glad I came across this site. I was starting to worry because I stopped smoking 3 days ago after 21 years. It is a long and aggravating process for sure. I've developed a severe cough which I understand to be cilia waking up and starting to work again. However, I cough constantly all day and night to the point my head has started hurting and stomach muscles are sore. It's become such a nuisance. I cough up lots of phlegm that's always clear in color, no icky color so far. My sinuses are messed up as well. Not sure if the headache is from sinuses or the coughing. Cravings come and go. Some not so bad others are really bad. I do vape some just to help in which it does. I actually told my daughter today quitting smoking feels worse than smoking at this point due to the hideous cough. I was hoping it would last just a few days but I notice mist posts were months of this. I feel doomed at the thought of months of this. I stay congested. I quit smoking in the past for 6 months and went back. I have my mind set that is is the last time. I literally feel tired all the time since I quit. Even though it feels like it's going to be a long frustrating battle I will stay focused and quit for good.

Hey kick-the-b, welcome to the sight. Your 3 days quit is early days and cough could be remaining niccotine in your system. I been quit around4 and half mths and my severe coughing started after about the 4th week. I still have a rough bout of cough now and again especially in mornings but this is the cilia growing again. It takes a long time to clean up believe me. Cravings disappear with help of lozenges but the habits are very hard to break although getting better. I do not know if the vaping you mentioned will help in quitting because i think you may use this as substituting cravings....don't know. Please check with your doctor or the i can quit committee if vaping acceptable and let us know here. Cheers for now.

Hi Kick-the-b. Do whatever it takes cos it will be better than dying prematurely... That's what the rest of us on this site are trying to avoid. Find a quit buddy and enjoy the new you.

Agree with Johnnie. Don't believe vaping is a quit method.
