Day 25 The Hills are alive with the SOMusic

Posted in Getting started
schedule 22 Sep 2016

Been a long time since my last visit and I return with my tail between my legs as I really thought I was winning last time. Anyway they say it takes a few quit attempts and then one day that attempt becomes the successful quit. I have been going good and although I started on patches I had a bad skin reaction and had to stop. Decided to tough it out so using nothing just willpower. Not actually craving a dart, just feel arrrrrghh, having big issues concentrating and feeling unsettled ( like the cat on the hot tin roof)Decided to come back and draw inspiration from all your stories especially last years graduates who did so well getting to one year. As much as I feel arrrrrghh I have maintained sense of humour and just lmao a few times in the midst of it all. X

Hi Nannette. Welcome back. Maybe you could visit more often and post your pearls of wisdom as you had in the past. It is still there. I tend to post a lot and inevitably believe everything I say on this site. It has helped me for over 15 months to stay quit after 45 years... Maybe it could help you. When I said ages ago that only 6% of those on this site would succeed, I was hoping I would be on of them. It was not a suggestion that quitters had o fail. More, beware, as this decision is not easy to keep and so many variables may cause us to fail. After 15 1/2 months I do not think I AM IMMUNE. Not a day passes when I do not re-live a craving. The difference is that now they do not last more than a few seconds. Day 1 saw me fighting these cravings for hours. Come back, Nannette. Let others learn from your journey. Also, give others hope that they can return to this site and try again. I do not know how I would ever survive this lone without the support from those on this site. Wish you well.

Hi Nannette. Welcome back :o) I m only at Day 26 today but I remember the huge lack of concentration when I started. I also got really fidgety (cat on a hot tin roof sums this up perfectly!!) Luckily this didn't last long as my job requires a high level of concentration. I practically sat at my desk for the entire week 1 and did nothing... but then I started to be able to concentrate again and it just keeps getting better...

Hang in there - we're right behind you

try yogic breathing or relaxation and think about exhaling all those bad thoughts away, leaving your mind empty and relaxed and serene. That and 'cognitive quitting' plus a myriad of other aids helped me quit and stay quit. lots of positive thoughts.....
