Day 5 - Champix

Hey everyone!

I'm on day 5 of my champix. This is about the 4th time I've attempted to quit, I've tried cold turkey, I've tried the Allan Carr method, I've quit using nicotine electronic cigarettes (although it doesn't get me away from the nicotine), and this is my first time trying with champix. My cravings are really weird at the moment; first thing in the morning I'm really craving one, the rest of the day I only want them out of habit. I've cut down drastically how much I'd usually smoke in a day. I'm excited for the future and being smokeless!

Hi Krystal34, welcome on board. I have been off them for 40days now and yes the worst and basically the only serious craving i find is in the morning with my coffee. The rest of the day fine. At least you have passed the toughest test in my opinion and that is the first 2weeks. I will not change my routine to get me past that morning devil but rather meet it head on and just ignore it with a half nrt lozenge. Yes, i find if you take nrt lozenges in broken halfs they do same job and no hiccups. I find the habit a bugger to break too....but working on it. Good luck....keep posting. Cheers.

Sorry Krystal34, you are only on 5th day. But, look try hard for the first 2 weeks...then it will get easier. Bye again.

I tried twice with Champix it did very little I only managed to cut back the cigarettes on it but could never give up

Hi Kyrstal, Everyone has different reactions to Champix and therefor have different opinions on it. I am on Champix and I love it. I find it to be the only way that I can quit smoking. Yes it can make you nauseous if you dont have it with food and yes it can give you crazy dreams but it also helps to reduce the cravings. Its a mind game and you need to be on top of it to beat it. Hi there, I am on week 4 of Champix, havent quit yet. Missed my date, but have set another goal. Am annoyed with myself. I am smoking about 5-10 a day, used to smoke 25. The first one in the morning is soooo hard to change, with my morning cup of tea. The others during the day I usually just smoke half a one cause thats enough. Never tried to quit before, been smoking 35 years....urghhh ! Good luck Krystal, we will make it girl!!!! :)
