You can do it, only you can , only if you want too!

Keep busy, be honest to yourself, and stop thinking I have quit for ever , think of it in hours for you're first few days the human brain can cope better ( it helped me)
Well today is my first day of being smoke free, how I have gone about preparing for my quit date was firstly , had a really good talk to myself , and do you really want to jeopardise you're future, and do you want to be a slave to nicotine, then after I have got it right in my head it's off to the doctor, as in the past quitting episodes I used patches ( they are the most silliest thing in the world they don't stick , even using a whole bunch of band aids to help the patch have contact with the skin doesn't work, then taking it off was the same as having a great waxing session at my beauty salon, and you say to yourself now I'm not going to get stressed ha ha ha ) so my doctor has got me on champix , I started them nearly a week and a half ago, and I still was smoking as I was told that the medication takes around 2 weeks to kick in, the first few days on champix it made the cigs taste yucky but on the third day it was normal again, but I did notice that I didn't feel the pleasure when I had a cig and today is my quit day and I have to say I have not yet craved for one , if I was on the patches , gum ect by now I would be ripping my hair out, impossible to be around, have this foul taste in my mouth from the gum and the next thing is I'm up the shops ripping open a packet of cigarettes and lilting up , but with champix I'm a very cool cat completely different person, also I don't think in forever quit I think in hours as only you can know how well you're really doing, were all individuals so doing it you're way to quit and tailoring it you're way it should make quitting easier and permanent, and I have found a little saying that has resonated well with me and goes a bit like this , once you have quit stay quit, going through all this withdrawals is going to be a once off campaign as I will not and won't put myself through all this for nothing , all of my planning talking about this with family and friends was a complete waste of time if I don't quit, don't let yourself quitting smoking a long life ground hog day ! Wishing you lots of luck, we can and will quit smoking

Welcome SillyT, you sound like you have a great plan, I also used Champix and today I am 96 days smoke free.
Like you, this time around I had to change my plan of attack, this time I am not quitting or giving up cigarettes.
I tell myself that I am an addict and today I choose to be smoke free, So I take one day at a time.
We are all different and we all need to use whatever works for us, there will be bad days at some stage so stay strong and focussed, this site I have found to be a great help the community within are so supportive and have some great stories they share. Post your thoughts and share your progress. Good luck

Hi and welcome SillyT. Congrats on making your decision and well done on your planning and strategy. Sounds like your head is in the right place and that is always the biggest hurdle. I was using Champix and have been smoke free for 37 days. One step at a time, stay positive and focused. Keep reading the stories here for inspiration. Good luck on your journey, you can do it!

Thank you so much for the support, I'm expecting my first call off the quit line today, and I'm looking forward to the call , also I just don't understand why the peeps who make champix don't advertise their product , it far beats patches, gum , sprays et , I wish I knew about champix a long time ago as it has made quitting easy, mental strength , conditioning and educating myself has a lot to do with my success, I know it's only day 2 but I just know deep down, this way is going to be successful as the past attempts were a waste of time, yes I did learn a whole lot about how much nicotine controlled my life and what were my triggers from past attempts, I'm so excited for my future as well as hopefully not getting the same smoking related diseases that my parents have to live with 😢

Hey SillyT
Quitting smoking is going to change lots of things for the better in your life. I know this!
