Totally Lost, need help.

I don't know what to do, I am failed to stop smoking.
I originally have smoked a pack, I decided to go with cold turkey, but however, I failed and the positive is that I now smoke 7~9 cigas per day.
However, afterwards, it seems I can't reduce it any more.
Need support and help.

Hey Alfred. Firstly, stop beating yourself up about it. The cigarettes can do that without your help. Stopping smoking is doable. Sometimes it takes a few attempts. If you really want to stop cold turkey then perhaps you nee to approach it scientifically, what I mean is - understand that it's a change of mental attitude that plays the main part in stopping. I bought a book called Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking. He suggests you smoke while you read it, you will understand why as you get through it. I've stopped smoking for 25 days now. Others on this site use alternative methods, each person is different. Have a read through people's stories and requests for help. Let me know how you get on. Stay busy, positive and happy. Cigarettes are making you unhappy, perhaps it's time to stop
Hi Alfred firstly I agree 100% with everything WhiteWillow has said 👌 Secondly it is very difficult to quit I'm 6 weeks today and it hasn't gotten any better but it will 👍 Go to your GP and explain how your feeling and that you want to quit 😊 Believe me they will give you anything you ask for to get you off the dreaded Nicodemon!! I'm on Champix and I'm finding it brilliant this time around. I tried Champix a few years ago and they made me very ill 😞 Not this time though 👍 Good luck with whatever you decide and keep us updated 😊

Welcome Alfred, don't be hard on yourself each attempt is a step closer to success.
I used to think people where pulling my chain when they said that to me, this time I am 90 days smoke free.
You do need to have your head in the right space, because regardless of what method you use, you need the willpower to not pick up that cigarette and light it.
I used Champix this time and it worked for me, it helped me over the withdrawal but it is not for everyone, others use NRT's or Cold Turkey one thing we all have in common, is willpower because you need that to be successful.
Read the posts on this site, even go back and read the old ones, it may help in some way to kick start your next attempt. good luck and when you start take an hour at a time, that is often all we can manage to start.

Thanks all for your supports. I really appreciate as I feel I am not alone. I am now in the middle of reading "Easy Way", reached 31 pages out of 111 pages book.
Let me see if I can stop after reading this book. I am grateful for your suggestion, however, I will stck to Cold Turkey to stop smoking.
Just one random question, is it possible for me to start stop smoking in the middle of day? I already smoked and don't want to put it to tomorrow, but wonder if that might work.
Thanks.
Alfred

Hi and welcome Alfred. Well done on slowing down, that is the first of many steps to freedom. Of course it is possible to start the quit process at any time of day. My last (and only) cig was 32 days ago at around 9am...I had breakfast and halfway through my cig I butted it out (with disgust) and that was it. Never looked back again.
Good luck on your journey, keep reading whatever inspires you, chewing sugar less gum helps too. Small steps, one day at a time. Keep posting on your progress too...all of these things are helpful.

Hi Alfred, congratulations, if you want to stop smoking in the middle of the day then you're ready to stop. I'm so pleased for you, keep reading the book right to the end, that's very important. Keep posting on here too, I'm thrilled it's working for you. Stay strong, stay positive. We're right here with you.

Alfred I went through the same struggle as you before I stopped , it might seem like a bad thing but its the caterpillar becoming the butterfly, the stuff we don't see going on inside and all of a sudden out pops this beautiful butterfly.
but no one see's the morphing that goes on inside.
so for me you are in a great place keep going you will get there :)

Hey Alfred,
I think you can do it! For me the first few days were just like hell and a blur. After a few weeks I started learning about my addiction. White willow's suggestion is great as I've seen some of the stuff Alan Carr talks about and believe that if we are able to understand what we are doing, then we have a greater chance of not being fooled by the nicodemon

Hello friend, you didn't fail. You went from smoking a pack a day to half dozen a day and that is a big difference. I did the same thing the first time I tried and stayed at the 5-6 per day for over a year, at least that was a whole lot better, so now I am trying again and it is so much easier with the lessened nicotine cravings and am enjoying not having smoked for the past 9 days, don't want to and my quit date was set for tomorrow. I rack that up to reducing my nicotine habit. My 1st attempt was not a failure, I got my feet wet and now I am swimmingly happy. The smell literally turns my stomach. I used Champix and swear by it. My sister used Zyban and swears by that having not smoked for over 2 yrs now on that. However one succeeds is based on their different personalities, we are not robots, thankfully so. You can and will win this fight if you really want to, but that is it - the mind set, I do believe. See you on the other side, friend, enjoying the benefits of a smoke-free life :-)

Thanks all for your support and this is my 4th free day from smoking. I didn't have physical down so I am still a bit worried and can't believe it's true.
I just managed this far after reading some part of "Easy Way", as my English is poor, I read just first 40 pages and understand what the author is trying to say, the last 20 pages for the suggested way.
That really helped, and now I don't need to smoke. Actually sometimes, I wish to have just one puff to award me this incredible(from a pack a day to non), but it is not that difficult for me to stop thinking and lighting that ciga.
I really appreciate your support, I think it's just start of the journey, but a bright start, truly.
I will frequently update you.
