OMG, read so many of yours ... on Day 4 ... no side effects noticeable, like xyz recent-post want it to kick in & make me not want to smoke. Have to stop completely due to scare. So have cut down by 2/3rds self-will, but damn still enjoy, due to triggers (morning coffee, arvo snak, evening wine ... ) so on 7 - 8 / day from 25+ ... Is the Champix going to help me??? or do I have to do it all by myself ...

I too am on the Champix and I'm going into week 3 as a non smoker 😊 The first Week on the Champix you won't really notice a difference but in the second week when the drugs are stronger you will stop getting the same pleasure from the cigarettes 👌 You have until Day 14 to quit at which point it will require willpower 👍 However the Champix does stop your brain from thinking it needs nicotine by blocking the receptors and in my case it has worked 😊 Along with willpower of course 😊 Good Luck 😊

Hi JuliaC, I am 64 days smoke free, also on Champix, I haven't experienced the side effects that others have but I don't sleep well, just remember when you do stop, you have to stay strong and remember you can't even have 1 puff. We are addicts and there is no such thing as just one, so pick a day and stick to it, it is hard work and the cravings ease however it is the urge I have had the most trouble with that just won't seem to go away, I am winning and you will too take one day at a time and keep posting.

Worried about not having the willpower... I'm starting Day 8 of the Champix & I'm not carving the cigarettes (as I haven't been able to taste them since day 1), but I'm having trouble breaking the habit! What I mean is the I'll just have a cigarette before I do this or that! Does anyone have any tips to get over this?

Yeah I know Lipson123 ... it's the habit that's worrying me too (Day 6 ...). So far for me (1) I do something else eg silly little job before I do that 'this or that', or say I'll have one after if I really need to, then don't; or (2) This evening was at a meeting/social, wine & nibbles available (= major smoke opp!!!) so I had wine in one hand, a nibble in the other, a bottle of water under arm, so no way could I light up without looking stupid, and anyways nobody else was smoking, and talking was more fun than ducking out the back for a quickie (smoke that is); or (3) I just discovered banana tic-tacs. I don't eat sweeties, & don't plan to eat as a substitute, but so I have a banana tic-tac as a substitute "treat" ...

There must be more of you got "habit" tips please! ... 4 smokes so far today, down from 7/8 (down from ~25 3 weeks ago ...) but I'll have 1-2 more before bed ... maybe ... will analyse if I need or want or ...

How ya doin' Lipson123? I maxed at 6 today. Need to break the HABIT!! One day, like tomorrow or so (scarey) I will NOT have the first one when I wake up ... what will I do instead? I have no idea. Cuddle my dog more. Drink a gallon of tea. Have a treat-bath & waste my rainwater. ?? No idea ... Good luck!!

Hey all - this is waaay later (relatively speaking) - Week 5 of Champix .... and I think Storm just answered my question. Gulp. Ouch. Please help me still ...

... Backing up, I have logged on & read various from all steps, some in depth, in last few weeks, and, wow, what an amazing website; carry on all you support-crew; so so amazing & caring. I tried to help a few weeks ago too ...

... now maybe I need a help-step-up.

OK here's where I'm at. Until 28th April 2016 I smoked maybe 30++ easy; ok 40++ in previous life when I was rich (& miserable - life has changed); started when 18; so like a lifetime smoking; then health scare thanks to alert dentist & specialist referral; since 28/04 or 02/05 immediate down to 12 ... 10 .. 9 ... 8 ....per day. 20th May - 3 per day. 13th June - 2 per day.

I'm stuck. I still ** like it!! 2 per day? isn't that ok ...? :-( ... tell me I have to be EVEN STRONGER, please, I need your help. And my randomly nominated quit day (in a wine-blur) is I think in 3 days ... EEEK! (just 1 per day please??) - get thee behind me devil ... BREAK THE HABIT .... ???!!!

Thanks for listening - and ps I so feel for you guys/girls with mental health (loosely) issues as well ... my partner too ...

Oh, for a laugh - "unfortunately" my sense of smell/taste is way better ... so the cheap cr*p wine I can afford ... is really ... cheap & cr*p!! & would like to get off Champix - bad sleeps ... *sigh* just my story
