day 3 getting a bit easier

day 3 and getting a little easier with each day. I am waking up feeling healthier and fresher. but my concern is eating to have something to do with my hands now. I pack myself off to work with a container full of carrot celery and cauliflower sticks - yep the healthy stuff - but am concerned that the weight is going to pile on now, weight gain being something i have struggled with for quite some time. So any hints or tips on how not to gain weight but to still give up smoking??

Try going for a walk every afternoon. Good exercise plus it can help to keep you distracted.
I'm on day two and feeling good. I kinda think if I gain a bit of weight it will be worth quitting for and I can then work on that once the withdrawals have subsided.

yeah I really hit the sugar its pretty normal I wont bore you with the reasons but day 52 I am still on sugar but its getting less and I am moving more.
I spent like whole days in bed with real bad depression , that is starting to get better also, I smoked for 30+ years so its to be expected to go through huge change as the body recovers from a long drawn out trauma.
I don't really think most people really understand what we did to ourselves.
so my point is don't beat on yourselves at all for 1 second, do what ever it is you need to do to be free of the smokes one day at time forever :)
this is the number one priority for at least 6 months but things will change as the mind and body change, and it takes time !!
so well done and keep it up guys you are doing great !!

I tried it the other way round. I tried to reduce my weight a little before quitting. However, I have invested in a smoothie maker and have a proper meal at lunch time then a smoothie in the evening. I'm only on day 2 so we will see. It's worth a try. Have you considered doing a puzzle or colouring in? It seems all the rage in our office at the moment. Perhaps taking up a craft like knitting, you could create something or just knit squares, there are loads of charities who take them and put them together. Just a thought
