Day 2 (yet again)

I have had aeveral attempts at quitting, but this one is going to stick! Not using any NRT as I believe that can be as bad as smoking. But, I am as sick as a dog (a sick dog that is), so that makes it easy not to smoke when you're awake all night coughing.
Using manchild's analogy, I am leaving that old person behind and am morphing into a new, more motivated, non smoking person.
Also, I am madly in love with a gorgeous chap, I don't want him to suffer from my smoking.
I saw an advert on SBS a couple of days ago where a mature couple are looking into each others eyes lovingly at the hospital. He is going to die of a smoking related disease. It was very poignant

You will get there if you want it enough. Are you doing it cold turkey? Just get through first 2daus then it gets easier. Every day gets easier after that. I'm on day 4 cold turkey and I'm enjoying being disgusted by the smell of lit cigs. Finding it weirdly reassuring that it makes me smile.
Anyway, keep at it and do this for you not anyone else. Be kind to yourself

Hey Weewillem
Good luck but I must be honest with you that I've only felt much much better recently. I had to white knuckle it in the early days and needed a lot of help. I went to all the smoking blogs in the first 30 days to see what people were saying. I'd often do things like search google for "day 2 no cigarettes" if it was day 2, 3 etc. and start reading as much as I could about the mental affects. I know for me, its not enough to simply stop taking cigarettes but we need to train our minds to combat the old smoky thinking. I've smoked for over 30 years and was really heavy before I gave up some 82 days ago. Peace to you and wishing you all the power you need to get through the next few cycles.
