Can I do it?

This is my second attempt and now it's going to be the last one, I hope so. I miss my partner called cigarette but I've got a 4 years old son, he is my heart that walks outside of my body, and I am quitting for me and for him. Today is my second day. I am scared to gain wait. Does anyone knows how to prevent that?

Welcome, try not to give yourself a hard time if you do put on weight. if you can beat cigarettes, weight gain will be easy to defeat. Focus on becoming smoke free, it's a huge challenge on its own, good luck with your journey and keep posting

I just managed to loose 40 kgs and I am scared of putting that back, but you are correct, quit smoking is better than anything else, the rest is just rest. Thanks for writing to me.

Renatinha007, that's a great motivation to quit smoking your cute little son. God bless you and him. I believe gain weight is a minor issue now, focus on your main target of quitting smoking, However, it depends on what you will do to distract yourself from cravings. Drink plenty of water and juice, walk and deep breathing, minimize coffee, eat fruits and vegetables. This will help you to resist cravings and not gain weight at the same time. good luck and YOU CAN DO IT.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am drinking a lot of water and coke zero, so I enjoy the sweetness of it and don't eat real sugar.
Today was my second day and I must confess, have been thinking of a cigarette all day. I think the hard part is to break the routine that I have created, but for my son and the help of God, I will win that battle.

Exactly, break your daily routine. I took 2 days off my work and went to my summer house, i was all alone the first 3 days but did a lot of activities, gardening, painting, walking, reading.... then back to my regular routine life. Do something you wanted to do for years and never find the time or were delaying it. Good luck.

yep good advice , we now have more time on our hands so can get more done, so do a bit more.
I will add that nicotine hits those dopamine receptors in the brain that make us feel good and sugar also hits those, so for me some sugar intake is inevitable short term for me, but I am moving more so that helps burn some off, but yes more exercise helps with dopamine also, I think if you do more research most addicts are lacking dopamine and serotonin made naturally in people who are not addicts, and by addiction I mean nicotine , alcohol , etc..
so its something to be aware of and worth taking to a doctor about if depression does become a real problem which it can for some recovering/recovered addicts.
we don't need to suffer unduly either so if there is signs of this talk with a doctor who understands not a shaming doctor as well lots of addicts have shame stuff also.
not pointing you out just seemed like a good place to share as I have to deal with this also and helps me to write it down and see it and when I see it , I maybe see something's I can use to help myself better.
so well done and keep going one day at time !!
