Champix

I am on Day 14 of Champix and finding it really hard to stay on. Getting headaches, nausea and heartburn/indigestion. I thought about quitting the champix (lol) then read through other peoples stories will push on. I only had 4 1/2 cigarettes yesterday which is wonderful after 40 years of smoking. I want to be able to breathe properly so have to quit smoking. Has anyone else experienced a real spacey feeling, feeling shaky and blurry vision from the Champix?

Mel ferg, Hello.
With Campix are you having something to eat when taking them?
Your headaches maybe the body starting to detox itself from alot of smoke chemicals, I cannot give you any real answers about Champix as I just went Cold Turkey and now I am
day 173 or 23 weeks, yes my body had alot of adjustments, but as the time has gone by
these are now just a blur in my mind.
But you can achieve your goal of No Smoking if you really set your mind on it
You have taken the 1st major step and that is starting the journey of quitting.
Hopefully some other readers can help with the Champix questions.

Hi Mel Ferg, I started taking champix 3 weeks ago and now 2 weeks without a cigarette. I too have had heartburn with Champix so I take with a full glass of water and then have something to eat. They can give you a bit of a spaced out feeling and I also have had disturbed sleep since taking them. However, I am willing to put up with the mild symptoms I am experiencing to enable me to quit my 33yr habit. I have found that the cravings have been minimal and when they do come I deep breathe through them. Sometimes I realise that I haven't given smoking a thought for most of the day. Previous quit attempts on NRT, I thought about smoking all the time, it was a daily battle. Champix for me is a winner!! Keep going.

hi after 13 years of regular smoking, I am on cold turkey.on day 6 . cravings was most on day 1, then less day 2, then more less on day 3 ... more less day 4.. thus as days are passing, ( hours are passing) cravings come down and my will strength , confidence , increasing. so I think cold turkey is best.but on these 1st initial days if stress level is low, then it becomes more easier.best wishes.

I further urge You not to smoke especially after 2 weeks of quit ,only one cigarette which You want now. as it invites another 10 cigarettes to smoke. lets have a walk.
