i've been trying to quit for 2 years, every time i attempt to quit,i end up smoking after 24 hours or so,i am trying cold turkey, people says its because i am not ready,i am smoke pack a day,can anyone help?your advice or experience would be appreciated

Try calling quitline to discuss alternative ways to quit, it does not matter how you quit, matters that you do quit.

Julian you can beat the habit of smoking
Have the confidence in yourself that you can do it,
Its not an easy road (if it was easy to quit, everyone would be doing it) but through sheer determination, frustration, stubborness you can do it.

dosnt matter how hard you try, if your heads not in the right spot you've got no hope....convincing yourself is half the battle or forget it....good luck

Champix is working well for me... It is still a bit of determination as its only day 6.... I am down to about 3/5 cigies a day from 20!!! I couldn't do cold turkey its just toooo hard.... Good luck with however you choose to give the cigies away

I have to agree with nodrah. last time I tried all I could think about was smokes and it was driving me crazy; I wasn't really ready to quit. This time because of as jenno said...determination, confidence and stubborness and with the help of NRT patches I am finding it a lot easier. Good luck, you can do it if you really want to!

you can do it Julian. I don.t know what to say to help me and you continue ; i wish i could snap my fingers and make these feelings go away..do you play a musical instrument? I have been playing my piano a lot more! Volunteering some time at an elderly center and staying busy helped alot. try and stay busy. Don't think about failure. "We are not what we think we are- but; what we think ; we are!!

2 weeks ino Champix and now 9 days without smoking!! Constantly being nagged by family and knowing that after 30 years of smoking enough was enough. I've been a slave for too long!! I've also been reading Allen Carrs (not funny man) "how to give up smoking" and he makes a lot of sense to me. I still think about smoking everyday but remember things i've read to help me through those wobbly moments. Good luck
