Hi everyone, I started on Champix 8 days ago and had my last cigarette 3 days ago. For me Champix has worked really well so far and had no major side effects apart from insomnia every now and again. Have tried several times before to quit with NRT. The withdrawal symptoms on Champix have been next to nothing. Don't get me wrong I do think about cigarettes and all my associations and triggers but keep telling myself its just a "habit" that needs to be broken. NRT keeps topping up your diminishing nicotine supply thats why I think i've always failed in the past. Gotta do it this time and never look back

Hi Gina A,

I just checked my quit plan and found I have been smoke free for 613 days and have saved $15325. I hope that gives you some inspiration. What I liked about your story is that it is very similar to mine some 605 days ago. I had tried NRT a number of times without success; sometimes I wore one or two patches at a time while puffing away!! In using Champix my desire to smoke reduced without substituting cigarette nicotine for other nicotine and I also found there were little if any physical withdrawl symptoms. Difficulty is overcoming the mental withdrawl aspects of nicotine addiction. I've said in other posts, once I got my brain on board, stopping smoking was easy. I hope to read about your 300+ story on day. Good luck

You're right about the mental withdrawal. I have also been reading Allen Carr's quit smoking books and they make a lot of sense to me. Brainwashing yourself into thinking that you're actually missing something. When I thought about why I smoked I couldn't answer the question as I didn't enjoy it, it was just a habit that I did at certain times of the day that went crazy with alcohol. I have also stopped alcohol to remove the association. Hopefully my brain will continue to be on board!! Here's to the next 297 days
