It's time

I had my beakthrough moment last night after another night coughing. I am 52 and have smoked 30 day since I was 15. Time spent in the emergency dept today being treated for severe bronchitis reinforced that it is time. Now on antibiotics x 2, steroids and Ventolin. Done from 30 to 7 cigarettes today with aid of nicotine patch. Only have 10 left in the pack them no more. It is inspiring reading the stories of others like me who have done well.

Hi Cas I hope you could breath better today. As far as your quit smoking is concern you know u need to quit sooner or later. Quitting smoking is a process, and every time u don't smoke is always good for you. You have to see tobacco for what it is.. is a killer, and will kill u eventually, if not sooner. So..do your best to stop smoking, use smoking cessation medications if u have too. It is time to quit smoking definitely. Keep us posted! You can do it!

Good luck Cas. It sounds like you fully understand what you need to do now. It likely won't feel easy at first but before you know it you will come out the other side and you will start to feel better. I wish you the best with it and please keep posting about your quit smoking journey. There are many others on this website who are going or have gone through exactly what you are about to go through. Do not be afraid to ask for tips or support.

Hi Cas! I'm so glad to hear you're on your way to stop smoking. You have a supporter in me as I am travelling the same road. We both know what we have to do; for ourselves, our loved ones, and our future. We'll have less colds and flu; not just in winter but all year and we'll be able to regain some fitness; no matter how old we are. I wish you well in breaking a habit that's held us both in its grip for too long. Keep writing; every day if necessary. You'll find a lot of suppprt from everyone here.

It is such a good idea to read posts on this site. Therapeutic! Another plus is the opportunity to take the time to respond to others' posts and also to write you own story as often as you need/want to. Again, very therapeutic. Hands / fingers busy and cannot hold a cigarette and therefore not wasting time...

Than you for all the comments. It is great to read the experiences of others who are in the same boat. Only had 4 smokes today and they made me cough so bad, worked great for aversion therapy. Not really having mad cravings but it is more the habit of having a smoke that is hard to break. keeinghands busy with comuter games. Only 6 left in the pack now and determined not to buy any more

Keep at it, Cas. Playing computer games is a great idea. I hope you feel much better soon.
