Wondering If I've Give Myself Enough Time

I've tentatively set my quit date for Monday. During that time I plan to visit a GP and get patches on PBS as I don't think I'll be able to do it on my own. I'm wondering if I've given myself enough time. I have no set plan except to stick a patch on and not give in to smoking a cigarette as I have no real triggers other than I enjoy it and the smoking gives me a sense of temporary calm.

Hey - you should do it.

I don't think any of us really have a solid strategy until we get started. Be aware of what I happening to your mind and body and you will work out ways best suited to yourself.

I found developing a motto helps get you through the tough times. I've heard people using all sorts of phrases. When ever things are getting tough I tell myself, today day is hard but tomorrow will be better. Not One Puff Ever (NOPE) is another one I heard that keeps me on track.

Also it does't hurt to keep a pack of nicotine gum handy for when the cravings get too bad. Its ok to use the gum on occasion while using the patches.

Thanks for your post ninja. I am trying so hard to change my way of thinking to this is going to be a great thing but all I seem to do is stress about it. Hopefully by Monday I can turn my head around and with the help of patches I can kick the habit

The big difference for me this time around is i'm going into it with a clam mindset, which has made the process less difficult. Maybe look as some herbal stress and anxiety pills or see what your doctor recommends. At any rate work on telling yourself its not as bad as you might think. Best of luck
