patches are working for me
I am 59 years old and have been smoking since I was 15 averaging 30 cigarettes a day, I have made so many attempts to quit smoking, probably at least 30 attempts, tried champix, gum, lozenges etc etc today is my second day without smoking using patches....the patches dont stick that well to my skin so I use a large bandaid to keep them attached firmly to the skin to make sure they work properly, well so far I feel calm and in control and not craving a cigarette, just thoughts really, but not a real craving, I feel I can make it this time and already feeling better....I also bought some nicotine mist/spray for breakthrough cravings but so far have only used it once ....I know its only 2 days but I hope and pray I am on the road to recovery and better health

Hi Linda! use whatever works for you and keep trying. Do one hour/day at a time, don't think about tomorrow and keep yourself busy, and always keep in mind why you wanted to give up smoking! Cheers and best of luck, keep posting. I'm on day 39 now and still can't believe it!

Hi Linda. Am a few years older than you and like you had succumbed to the craving for 45 years. Have shared my lightbulb moment many times on this site. My craving has a name. It is called Margaret Thatcher. It is she who tells me to light up. I tell her where to go. It is she who tries to catch me off guard and tell me to reward myself for milestones. I have reached over 160 days smoke free. She is relentless. If I had a craving for a cigarette I would have one. If Margaret tries to steer me in the wrong direction, I have an answer for her. No one tells me what to do. Try giving the craving a name. Don't agonise about what that name might be. Margaret That her is a great choice. Hope you have as much success as I have had so far. Not one puff...
