My final quit

At 10am today I have been two days as a non smoker. I am using the patch and chewing on straws every chance I get plus doing origami. This quit seems alot easier then other quits.

First, I'd like to congratulate you on your effort so far. I'm in the process of trying to get in the right mindset to stop smoking and believe patches will be my best shot. Were you a heavy smoker? What strength are the patches?

Hi Jay, Thankyou. I smoked 25 cigarettes a day. The patches are 21mg. I hope you are able to quit soon. Hope this helps you. Take care.

Keep logging in and telling us how you're going. This is the path I think seems might work best for me. Did the patch work straight away? Are you getting cravings?

No I don't think I've had any cravings. Yes the patch did start working straight away. I've had a couple of thoughts of smoking but the straws are helping alot. My partner came home last night and smoked and that usually ends my quit but it didn't bother me. I went outside with him and sat down and watched him take a couple of drags and then I went back inside and left him out there to smoke on his own lol. This quit feels good better then any others.

You sound like you're in the right head space too. That's half my battle ... getting in the right head space to want to.
I must say this has given me hope that patches will work

Well I hope I can help you abit more. I'm sure when you are ready you'll be able to do it. I'll keep posting here to let you know how I'm doing.

Having the right headspace is the key. I haven't quit quitting. I have lowered my intake. I think I can do it. I don't know when. Until then, I'll keep weaning myself. I go on smoke free outings.

Keep it up Lubby69. If it seems that it is easier this time it is probably because you have approached it with the right attitude. If you have the right attitude you will get there. This won't be easy but before you know it you will be over the worst of it.

Yay someone with exact same quit time as me. I was meaning to stop Sunday night but had one at 10.00 am Monday so that became my new time. Little bit of coughing here and chowing down on some sweets but hope to stop them once the packet runs out.
Best of luck to you! :)

Cool we are quit buddies. I have some coughing as well and a sore tummy ugh. Im doing good though. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Great! I've been trawling sites as I like reading people's stories, but anyway I'm actually feeling okay too so I also feel this will be my final go. I had a craving this arvo, like about half and hour ago and breathed deeply for a while then drank heaps of water. I'll check in after dinner regularly I reckon...

Great to hear you are doing great. I just have thoughts now and then they don't last long. I've gone back to my origami to distract my mind its helping.

I've just made a new post explaining where I am at. I start quitting via the same method as of Monday.

Hmm you talking of your origami has made me think. I'll have to come up with a hobby. I've gone full bore on relaxation and mindfulness methods but finding something to go to and be busy with or distracted with and be creative at the same time, well that sounds good. I'll put thinking cap on...
And good luck Jay Kay, I'll check out your post :-)

Calling quit buddy Lubby69, how's week two going for you? I've been surprised I am feeling better this week, the intensity of the quitting seems to have abated a bit. Taking it easy though as I don't want to stir up any stress, very tired and just want to sleep but I noticed others have felt this too. what will you do with your origami? Hope you're going well! How long will you stay on patches? Orange or cranberry juices help flush the nicotine when you get to that stage... Very best to you :-)
