Have been on this site for about 6 months after going cold turkey. In that time those who have chosen Champix have repeatedly reported bad dreams and few seem to be in control of their quit journey. Seems the drug has some severe negative side effects. Just beware of replacing one drug with another.

Ditto Lia. If you are experiencing anything with the champix tell your doctor. I also gave up cold turkey, be mindful and all the best for your journey, it will be worth it

Hang in there Ness7742, I've quit with champix before and have had to start again, now entering week 3. Some symptoms are just from not smoking and some might be the drug. The champix website you access using the number on the box is quite good. I had indigestion in the first stages but not now, remember to take with food at the same time each day and drink lots of water - your body will adjust. My partner has gone cold turkey and suffering a lot of throat problems I assume it's the cells healing.

Of course see your gp if you're concerned things aren't right, trust your intuition.

I wish you all the best :-)

schedule 1 Dec 2015

Thank you everyone, I decided Saturday morning that was the last Champix I was going to take, 12 days in and it was making me really ill, my body obviously wasn't happy with it. I had the best nights sleep in over a week on Saturday night & didn't wake with unbearable heartburn on Sunday morning. I also had my head back on my shoulders & felt better than I have in months! Tuesday now and I have stayed both off of the cigs (99hrs!!!!! woohooo go me!!) & the Champix, with a GP appointment tomorrow to see what other options are available. Last night was the first time I had an inkling of a craving, so put a NiQuitin 1.5mg lozenge in for 10mins - my craving disappeared & it tasted gross!!!! I am reading Allen Carr's Easyway, and totally relating to it. I know it is very early days, but even now I am feeling great, positive & bloody stubborn! :-)

Champix gave me nightmares, headaches, and just generally feel like sh#t. Im currently cutting back and going cold turkey this time. Good luck to you! Hope you find the will power not to pick up another cigarette again!
