Slip up

It was 2 days into me quitting and i had a slip up, i had a fight with my partner (iv been very emotional lately) its been hard from smoking approximately 20 cigarettes a day to absolute none I'm very edgy, so i bought a packet but only managed to have 4 drags of a cigarette, i threw the cigarette away along with the packet. It was a little slip up but i feel great today, still have some cravings but i have chewing gum right next to me for when that happens.

Go Charlie. The gum should help. Cigarettes are always waiting to worm their way back into your life when you are down. They are nasty expensive creatures that cause nothing but grief. Aim for 1 day, then 2 and before you know it you will have achieved a week. Good luck and stay strong.

I did the same thing. But you had the willpower to know better than smoke! Good for you. I on the other hand, didn't have the willpower to stop. Give me tips please!

So good that you threw the pack out after four drags on a cigarette - I am impressed with your will-power. I think all of this really is one day at a time. It is like one big break-up with someone you have been with for years and years but who is not doing you any good. On the one hand, you are so sad to lose your companion and only time will help overcome that sadness but on the other hand, you are leaving an abusive relationship. Lots and lots of walking helps - it is simply the best way to get through grief.
