There is nothing positive in smoking

My daughter gets scared when she sees me coughing and then vomiting. She cries and says "mummy please don't die". 10 days ago I started zyban. I was smoking 30-35 a day, waking up 3-4 times during the night for a smoke. After 10 days I am still smoking, tho I have reduced it to around 10 a day. I will be a non smoker as of Thursday morning (just over a day away) and I know it will be successful, as the addiction will be beaten!

Hi Tali, congratulations on making the decision! My kids also said please dont die when they heard me coughing and being totally breathless. I too use to wake up a couple times a night for a smoke and would even have a coffee at 2 am! My husband had zyban said it did help a lot to reduce cravings, I bought some oral strips which were fantastic and still use the e cig without nicotine. I have been quit for 35 days now after 37 years of smoking 30 smokes a day! Many family and friends even myself thought I couldn't ever quit! But I did it for my kids!
Good luck on your journey, you can and will do it too.

Congratulations Tali on making your decision and starting the Zyban. I am using Zyban also and this is the longest time I have stayed quit (day 23 today). I think it really helps and I certainly have not been thrown by the side effects (interrupted sleep in the beginning, a dry mouth and vivid, but NOT scary, dreams). There are still cravings but they only come a couple of times a day and I try and walk or swing my arms around to get rid of them. If we are going to fight, let's make it against addiction and come through to the other side.
I have found visiting this site to be one of the most useful parts of the journey.
Good luck - we are all in this together.
