I'm giving up at last!!
Today I went out and got my Champix and have set a quit date for the 21st of September, the date itself is important to me as it would have been my Grandad's birthday. He died from emphysema, which is another really important reason I have to give up. I never want to go through what he went through or have my family see me like that either, it was a terrible experience for me. So tomorrow I start my Champix and my journey to becoming a happier healthier person :-)

Good on you and all the very best with it. As you will read, this website is an invaluable tool for staying on track which can be quite challenging at times.
Tomorrow is my 21 days of not smoking, just went to the doctor to get my next packet of champix and will get the pack at the chemist in the morning. Even though I am now at the point of only having half a tablet at a time because they are making me feel like a bit of a air head and just not with it. I do find my self having to try extra hard to concentrate. Especially when i am listening to some one talk.
Eat first and then take the tablet is my warning. They do come with a bit of nausea unfortunately.
Best of luck!!

I started on the Champix a week before giving up on 7th July. I found that if I didn't have a packet of cigs around the house that it made it easier not to give into the temptation and eventually take my mind off it. All the best with it. You certainly have a great motivation !

Hi there Mellie, I'm sorry to hear about your Grandad & how difficult it must have been. Isn't it amazing how we still smoke after seeing what it can do. That's how addictive it is! My step Grandmother died of emphysema but I didn't see her go through anything bad - all I saw was her using the oxygen mask more & more until she eventually just passed away peacefully in her sleep. Stick with the site, we will support you, your doing such a great thing for yourself and your family. Good luck.
Thank you so much for your support and valuable tips guys :-) It was nice to log and see all of them.

How are you doing on the Champix mate? just curious, as I feel a bit dipsy like "young Victorian" above? Hard to connect in conversation, don't feel like chatting, pretty relaxed, but really focused at work, which is unlike me...? not sleeping too well either, but pretty chilled.. halved my smoking since starting Champix last Monday 31st Aug, without much effort or change in habits - my quit date is next Friday..
Good Luck with the Quit..
