At last I have started

I have smoked a packet a day for thirty five years and loved it. I knew I had to give up for the sake of my health but that was not a particularly compelling reason. I picked a date and decided, on my doctor's advice, to try Zyban to help me. I really didn't believe that it was possible for me to even start, however, I am now on my eighth day of non-smoking. I am meditating in the morning, taking the medication and trying to breathe through the not inconsiderable cravings I have experienced. The side effects of Zyban are not as bad as I anticipated - dry mouth, interrupted sleep and many dreams (although no bad ones to date). I really do think the Zyban is helping. In my previous attempts, I became very depressed and now, I am emotional and irritable but not depressed. I keep telling myself that finally I am free and out of prison. I very much hope I can stay out of prison.

Well done, you are now getting close to counting in double digits(day10) and then you will be at day 14(two weeks). I think being a tad emotional and irritable is part of the journey from what people say on these posts. You are so right about being FREE its so lovely to not have to keep stopping all day for a dart. The day flows rather than stop/start/stop/start. You should be very proud. Keep posting x
